The stage, step by step
From Tábara to the first changes in elevation
You leave Tábara with the stage’s main services already taken care of. The route heads out through fields and woodland; between km 5.5 and 7.8 you descend 36 m before climbing again.
Towards Villanueva de las Peras
Between km 7.8 and 9.5 there is a 35 m climb. The route then descends again to km 12.3, bringing you close to Villanueva de las Peras, where you can stop at Café Bar La Plaza.
The middle section
From km 12.3 you climb another 48 m to km 15.3. It is a steady section, with the landscape gradually changing from drier terrain to a damper environment.
Descent to the Tera valley
The final part is favourable: between km 15.3 and 18.5 you descend 66 m. Towards the end you may find Farmacia Asterio Molezuelas Codesal and, near Santa Marta de Tera, the Venta Medieval and Albergue de Peregrinos.
What to see on stage 25
Tábara
It is the last place with a supermarket until the end of the day: Dia Market and Covirán open early, and you can have breakfast at Palacio before setting off. After that, there is only Villanueva de las Peras.
Oaks, holm oaks, vineyards and chestnut trees
The route crosses a mixture of woodland and farmland that changes as you travel north. It is an enjoyable stage for walking without rushing and noticing how the landscape becomes damper.
Villanueva de las Peras
The village lies approximately halfway through the stage. It is the natural place to take a break before tackling the section leading to the final descent.
Tera valley
The final descent offers the best views of the day. Arriving in Santa Marta de Tera feels different after walking through the more open landscapes at the start.
Where to sleep in Santa Marta de Tera
In Tábara you can start at Albergue de Peregrinos or El Roble. Around halfway, there is Albergue La Alameda in Villanueva de las Peras, and near Santa Marta de Tera you have Casa Anita and Albergue de Peregrinos. Accommodation is limited and spread out, so it is worth confirming a bed before setting off.
Where to eat and refuel
In Tábara you have Asador Las Cumbres and Bar-restaurante «Las Cumbres», as well as Dia Market, Covirán and the Palacio café. In Villanueva de las Peras you can stop at Café Bar La Plaza. Near the end you will find the Venta Medieval and Alimentación y Tabacos; do not expect a continuous supply of places to eat between these points.
Practical tips for this stage
Set off with your water sorted
Do not plan the day around finding a marked fountain between Tábara and Santa Marta de Tera. Fill your bottle before leaving and use the services in Villanueva de las Peras if you need to replenish your supply.
Save energy for the profile
The stage has no dominant climb, but it alternates several changes in elevation. The climb between km 7.8 and 9.5 and the one between km 12.3 and 15.3 are easier if you keep a steady pace.
Make the most of the final descent
The descent towards the Tera valley is long and comfortable, but it is best not to tackle it with completely empty legs. Carry some food so you are not relying solely on the services at the end.
Secure your bed
Accommodation is concentrated in Tábara, Villanueva de las Peras and Santa Marta de Tera. If you want to finish at the destination, confirm your place at Albergue de Peregrinos or Casa Anita in advance.
