How it works

Your Camino, well planned and in good company

Peregrinia helps you in four simple steps: you plan your trip, find people setting off on your dates, talk things over calmly before you leave, and walk with your plan in your pocket. It's free for pilgrims.

Step 1

Prepare your Camino

Tap “Create my Camino” and answer three questions: which route you're walking, what day you set off and who you're going with. We'll lay out your stages day by day, with the hostels and services for each one.

  • If you don't know which route to choose, we'll suggest one based on your days and what you're looking for.
  • You can start somewhere else or make stages shorter whenever you like.
  • You'll see how long until you set off and where to sleep the first night.

Step 2

Find people setting off on your dates

In “Camino companions” you choose your route and the month, and see who's setting off on those days, from where and at what pace. If there's no one yet, post your departure and let others find you.

  • Ask to join a group or create your own and decide who you accept.
  • Create an alert and we'll let you know when someone posts a departure like yours.
  • There are women-only groups, approved by the organiser.

Step 3

Talk before you set off

When you join a group, its private chat opens. Introduce yourselves, sort out any questions and decide where to meet on the first day, with no rush and without giving out your phone numbers.

  • Only accepted members can see the exact meeting point.
  • We'll let you know in the bell and by email when someone writes to you.
  • If you don't feel comfortable, you can leave the group without explaining why.

Step 4

Walk and share

Save your plan on your phone before you set off and you'll have your stages even without signal. Each evening, if you feel like it, write a few lines and add photos to your diary.

  • Anything you write without signal is sent automatically once you're back online.
  • Your family can follow you with a private link, showing only the days you choose.
  • When you're back, if you like, publish your story to help those who come after you.

Safety and trust

Walking with strangers, with peace of mind

  • You know who you're talking to

    Everyone has a profile, and people who have already walked with them can leave a review.

  • Your data, kept safe

    We never show your email or phone number. You decide whether your profile is seen by the community or only by you.

  • Real people reviewing

    You can report or block anyone. Every report is read by a person on the team, who acts if needed.

  • A community with rules

    It's for over-18s only and there are clear rules of respect. Anyone who breaks them has to leave.
