Leaving La Calzada de Béjar
The stage begins in La Calzada de Béjar, where you can organise your departure with Bar La Plaza and Albergue Alba y Soraya. The first kilometres prepare the ground before the main climb.
Climbing towards Valverde
Between km 6.3 and 14, the trail gains 180 m at an average gradient of 2.3%. Valverde de Valdelacasa lies along this section and has Albergue Santiago Apóstol, Bar El Peregrino and Bar Ayuntamiento.
Valdelacasa and water
In Valdelacasa you will find Bar Bolerin and Posada del Pergrino. There is also Fuente de agua potable Camino de Santiago Vía de la Plata, a specific place to refill before continuing.
Downhill to Fuenterroble
After a second climb between km 15 and 17, the route loses 37 m in the final section. Arriving in Fuenterroble de Salvatierra brings bars, supermarkets, accommodation and Botiquín.
What to see on stage 17
La Calzada de Béjar
This is the stage’s starting point and the last place to check that you have everything you need. From here, a short stage in distance begins, but with a long climb in the middle section.
Valverde de Valdelacasa
Valverde de Valdelacasa appears during the main climb and offers an intermediate break. It is a good point at which to divide the ascent mentally before continuing towards Valdelacasa.
Valdelacasa
Valdelacasa lies in the upper part of the route and has several places to stop. There you will find Bar Bolerin, Posada del Pergrino and Fuente de agua potable Camino de Santiago Vía de la Plata.
Fuenterroble de Salvatierra
Fuenterroble de Salvatierra is the stage destination. On arrival, you will have several places to eat and shop, as well as Albergue parroquial Santa María.
Where to sleep in Fuenterroble de Salvatierra
At the start, you have Albergue Alba y Soraya. During the stage, Valverde de Valdelacasa offers Albergue Santiago Apóstol and the municipal hostel Bar Ayuntamiento. In Fuenterroble you can sleep at Albergue parroquial Santa María. The stage has specific accommodation points, but it is worth confirming a place before setting off.
Where to eat and refuel
The day allows for several planned stops: Bar La Plaza at the beginning, Bar El Peregrino in Valverde de Valdelacasa, and Bar Bolerin or Posada del Pergrino in Valdelacasa. In Fuenterroble you will find Tu Bar de Tapas, Bar Jose and Mesón El Pesebre, as well as the Peregrino supermarket.
