The stage, step by step
From Los Arcos to Sansol
You leave Los Arcos through open farmland and vineyards. Sansol is the first obvious stop of the day: you can pause at Sociedad, buy something at El Rincon de los Placeres or consider the Hospital de Peregrinos Sansol if you need to break up the stage.
Torres del Río and the first long climb
After Sansol you reach Torres del Río, where you will find the San Andres restaurant and options such as Albergue Casa Mariela. From around km 7.5, the most continuous climb begins, ending at km 11 after 106 m of ascent and an average gradient of 3%.
Towards Viana
After the descents between km 11 and 13.5, the Camino alternates smaller changes in level before heading towards Viana. Between km 14.5 and 16.8 you lose another 46 m, and once near the town you can stop at Cafetería El Portillo or replenish your supplies at Gama and Coviran.
From Viana to Logroño
Viana is the last important intermediate point before Logroño. The route descends again between km 18 and 21.8, climbs gently up to km 25 and then tackles a final descent between km 25 and 26.5. In Logroño you will find the Albergue de Peregrinos Municipal de Logroño and a lively arrival into the city.

Viñedos y cultivos de La Rioja
Much of the stage runs between agricultural plots and vineyards. The landscape changes from the earlier sections in Navarre and announces your arrival in the wine-growing region of La Rioja.
Sansol
This is an early, practical stop for a rest after leaving Los Arcos. If you set off early, you can have something here and decide whether to continue to Torres del Río or take a longer break.
Torres del Río
The village is very close to Sansol and provides another useful stopping point before the main climb. It is the last comfortable place to rest before the route gains height steadily.
Viana
Viana is the intermediate town with the widest choice of places to recover and organise the final section. If the distance is proving too much, it is also the most logical place to consider ending the day.
Logroño
The stage ends in the capital of La Rioja, where the agricultural tracks give way to an urban setting. It is a good place to rest, buy what you need and prepare for the following day.
Where to sleep in Logroño
In Los Arcos you can choose between the Albergue la Fuente - Casa Austria, the Albergue Casa de la Abuela, the Albergue Casa Alberdi and the Albergue Isaac Santiago. Sansol offers the Hospital de Peregrinos Sansol and Torres del Río has the Albergue Casa Mariela, among other private options. Viana has the main intermediate accommodation, including the Albergue Izar, the Alberguería Andrés Muñoz and the Albergue Parroquial de Viana. If you reach Logroño, you have the Albergue de Peregrinos Municipal de Logroño and the Albergue Parroquial de Santiago. Booking is advisable if you plan to sleep in Viana or Logroño, especially during the high season.

Los Arcos is a good place to have breakfast before setting off, and there are occasional stops along the way, such as Sociedad in Sansol and San Andres in Torres del Río. Viana is the most practical place to eat and shop: you will find Cafetería El Portillo, Gama, Coviran and Panadería Rubio Viana there. In Logroño, the choice expands considerably, with places such as Carabanchel, La Tiendita de Noa, Café Bar La Negrita and La Casa de los Quesos. Between Viana and the city entrance, do not count on many alternatives.

This is a long stage and there are not many intermediate stops. The sensible approach is to use Sansol, Torres del Río and Viana to drink and replenish your supplies, rather than relying on a continuous run of services between villages.
Book if you are sleeping in Viana
Viana is the natural place to split the day, but beds may be in demand if you do not want to continue to Logroño. The Albergue Izar and the Alberguería Andrés Muñoz are useful landmarks when planning your overnight stop.
Manage the central climb
The section between km 7.5 and 11 includes 106 m of ascent. It is not a wall, but it comes after several kilometres, so keep a steady pace and do not waste energy on the first ramps.
Save energy for the approach
The stage does not end when you first see Logroño: there is still a final descent between km 25 and 26.5, followed by the urban approach. Leave yourself some time if you want to arrive early enough to find accommodation.
