The Largest Public Albergue Network on the Camino

The Public Albergue Network of the Camino de Santiago in Galicia has 76 centers and over 3,000 public beds. Founded in 1993 and managed by S.A. de Xestión do Plan Xacobeo, this network draws inspiration from the historic hospital networks run by monastic and military orders that served pilgrim needs for centuries.

Included facilities

All public albergues include dormitories, bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, laundry facilities, and accessible installations. Beds include disposable linens and hot showers are available.

Price and bookings

The cost is €10 per person per day. No reservations accepted — beds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  1. Pilgrims with physical limitations
  2. Walking pilgrims
  3. Pilgrims on horseback
  4. Pilgrims on bicycles
  5. Vehicle-supported travelers

Schedule and rules

  • Opens: 1:00 PM
  • Closes: 10:00 PM
  • Maximum stay: one night (exceptions for illness or force majeure)
  • Quiet hours: from 10:30 PM (common areas excluded)
  • Check-out: before 8:00 AM
