The Aragonese Way crosses the Pyrenees via the historic Somport Pass (1,632 m), an alternative to the Roncesvalles crossing. At 161 km and 6 stages, it descends through the Aragonese valleys to join the French Way at Puente la Reina (Navarra).
The route passes through Jaca, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Aragon and home to Spain's first Romanesque cathedral (11th century). The Pyrenean mountain landscapes, with crystal-clear rivers and beech forests, give way gradually to the Navarrese plains.
